Re:Sound would like to welcome Florence Khoriaty, ARTISTI and Simon Kendall, MROC to our Board of Directors.
Florence Khoriaty is a Canadian pianist and singer with over 20 years of experience and has published 10 studio albums. She has won several artistic awards, including two Félix (ADISQ) awards and numerous JUNO nominations over the course of her career.
Florence K detailed her struggles with mental health in her first book, “Buena Vida” and is currently working on her second book, “Quand ceux qu’on aime sont en détresse”, “When those we love suffer”.
Florence K is currently pursuing her PhD in clinical psychology at UQAM and her research focuses on the links between creativity and mood among professional musicians, songwriters and singers. She is also the co-founder of the Centre psychologique pour artistes (CPPA), a center devoted to artists’ well-being.
Florence K hosts the weekly radio show C’est Formidable! on CBC Radio and CBC Music. She has also served on the boards of Artisti and Relief.
Simon Kendall is a Canadian rock musician and film composer. The longtime keyboardist for Doug and the Slugs, he won the Genie Award for Best Original Score at the 14th Genie Awards in 1993 for the film Cadillac Girls and was shortlisted for Best Original Song at the 22nd Genie Awards in 2001 for “Parting Glass”, a song which he cowrote with Tom Landa and Geoffrey Kelly for the film Lunch with Charles.
Kendall has played on over 100 albums, and currently divides his time between recording, performing & producing. Besides Doug and the Slugs, Simon records and performs with numerous artists including Colin James, Barney Bentall, Jim Byrnes, Ridley Bent & Chad Brownlee.
Kendall has previously served on the boards of: SCGC, SOCAN, MROC and VFMF.
