Re:Sound Event Raises $24,000 For Unison
[From FYI Music News]

The Canadian music industry continues to rally around the Unison Benevolent Fund in impressive fashion. A fine example is last week’s fundraising concert by music rights organisation Re:Sound. Their fourth annual event, it attracted a packed house to Revival in Toronto.

This year’s event was titled “Re:Wind – Pop Through the Decades,” and a press release informs us that “it saw talented bands from Re:Sound and Re:Sound’s “sister” organisations CMRRA, SOCAN and Music Canada perform energetic sets of some memorable tracks from the 1960s onwards. The bands were made up entirely of employees from the four organisation, many of whom are also working musicians.”

This year’s event benefited the Unison Benevolent Fund to the sweet tune of $24,000.

“Every day I’m proud of the team at Re:Sound. But today, I’m even prouder than ever,” said Ian MacKay, President of Re:Sound. “This annual event is entirely organised by a dedicated group of Re:Sound employees whose passion and talent is truly inspiring.”

“Re:Sound dreamt up a truly fantastic event to bring the music community together and celebrate all of the amazing individuals who make it great” said Catharine Saxberg, Chair of the Unison Benevolent Fund Board. “We were honoured and delighted to be involved, and to cheer on our friends during their well-deserved moments in the spotlight.”
