Ian MacKay

President

Ian joined Re:Sound as President in 2009, with over fifteen years of senior level experience in music, digital media, law and business.

Prior to Re:Sound, Ian headed up his own consulting firm, giving strategic and business advice to clients in music, publishing, broadcasting and media production. He was previously Senior Vice-President at Sony Music Entertainment (Canada) Inc., where he oversaw Business Affairs, Music Licensing, the Creative Lab and was an integral driver of the company’s strategic planning and business processes.

Prior to Sony, Ian practiced law at McCarthy Tétrault, specializing in entertainment, advertising and marketing law. He has also served on many Boards, including the boards of the Audio-Video Licensing Agency Inc. (AVLA), and as Chair of the Board of Toronto Dance Theatre.

Ian holds an MBA from the Rotman School at the University of Toronto, an LLB (University of Toronto) and a Master’s degree in History from Oxford University.
